Professor Kevin Bellard

I am Professor Kevin Bellard and founder of Bayou Jiu Jitsu. I hold a Black Belt in Jiu Jitsu under 5th degree Black Belt Ralph Gracie. Professor Ralph was taught Jiu Jitsu by his father Carlos Gracie, Jr. Carlos Gracie Jr. learned Jiu Jitsu, and it's lifestyle, from his father, Grandmaster Carlos Gracie, Sr. Few Jiu Jitsu practitioners can say that they have such a pure Jiu Jitsu lineage, of which I am very proud.

In 2001, I moved from Louisiana to San Francisco. San Francisco, courtesy of a good friend, is where I was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I then joined Ocean Beach Barra Brothers Jiu Jitsu, and started training under Professor Sapao. For many years I trained with Professor Sapao 5-7 days each week to master my skills.

In my Jiu Jitsu path I have competed and medaled in IBJJF tournaments in Brazil and all over the USA. I am an accomplished competitor and instructor.

In 2008, I returned to Louisiana and opened Bayou Jiu Jitsu in Baton Rouge. I have a strong passion for teaching and helping others discover this life-changing martial art. Since that time, I have since enjoyed the privilege of training a very large number of people in the Baton Rouge area to the art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
